Meet our librarian!

Mrs. Clara Gray

Welcome to Sunset Park Center for Accelerated Studies School Library.  I am Clara Gray, the school librarian.  I feel I have come full circle having attended Sunset Park in the seventh and eighth grades. To return as school librarian and serve for twenty-five years has been awesome! It has been my pleasure to serve the Sunset Park School family for twenty-five years.  My other professional experience includes Children’s Librarian for Chester County Library and Reference Librarian at York County Library, culminating in over forty-three years of experience as a librarian. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree from Winthrop College, (now Winthrop University); Master of Library Science from University of South Carolina, and graduate work from Coastal Carolina and Converse College.  I currently serve as the 2025 Teacher of the Year for Sunset Park.

Reading is a priority for Sunset Park learners.  We believe the library is the hub of the school and it is a tremendous resource for helping our students grow and excel. We also believe that reading is essential, fundamental and rewarding for lifelong learning. Therefore, the library operates on a fixed A,B,C and D schedule that includes the other related arts classes. All classes will visit the library each week.  During class visits, students have an opportunity to check out books for two weeks.

Special programs and activities that promote reading include the winter and spring Scholastic Book Fairs, Reading theme spirit days, Hugo the Hornet Performance, along with the Hornets Book Bus, Community Guest Readers, and Conversations (Sunset Park’s version of One School One Book).
